Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favourite things
I’ve always had a soft spot for brown paper, over bright fanciful wrapping papers. Even better when tied up with string, just like in that lovely song :)
This year, I thought I’d stock up on brown paper for wrapping at home, and my first gift to wrap was the boyfriend’s Valentine’s Day present! I added a little card I made too, which once again, is something I haven’t done in awhile. My laziness does get the better of me sometimes.
I love the Winnie the Pooh quote I chose for it, heh. So apt :P
I’d forgotten how wonderful it feels to carefully prepare and wrap a gift. Almost didn’t want to hand it over, because I adored how the brown paper and string looked.
In return, I have deep red roses to watch over me as I sit at the table, attempting to get work done. That’s the best part of receiving flowers, I think. The day after. When you wake up, and see them sitting pretty in a vase, slightly more bloomed than the day before, reminding you of the previous day.
I love Valentine’s Day. It’s always been a ton of fun, whether I was single or with someone. Sure, it is commercialised, and they do charge exorbitantly for everything on this one day a year, but honestly, just because I choose to celebrate it does not mean the boyfriend and I show our love only once a year. I don’t have an issue with those who choose not to celebrate it, but some people seem to go out of their way to make the people who do feel crappy. Those people really need to get over their self-righteous holier than thou pedestals man.
And now, I shall end this abruptly with many hearts.

I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day, spent with your loved ones.
